Hello, I’m Kim Starkman.
As a mother of four—with three of my children being neurodiverse—my journey into this work wasn't a career choice I planned; it was a mission I lived. I’ve been through the years of worry, the endless research, and the trial-and-error that comes with finding the right fit for a child who thinks, learns, and experiences the world differently. Every milestone we’ve reached has been hard-fought. Every battle has come with bruises, but we are stronger, and we have learned so much along the way.
My background is rooted in communication. With a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology, I understand communication styles, processing differences, and how to bridge the gap between a student’s potential and their environment.
But my deepest expertise was earned at home. For years, my "office" was my kitchen counter, covered in spreadsheets and endless open tabs of school disability service pages and college accommodation offices.
I did the deep-dive research because I had to. I needed to know which schools actually followed through on their promises of support, and which gap years understood that "independence" looks different for everyone. I truly believe that there is a school where every student can thrive.
I’m not just coming at this as an expert; I’m coming at it as a parent who has felt that same knot in my stomach and has had lost sleep worrying: Will they be okay? Will they be supported? Will they be happy?
I am here to help you find those answers.
